Law of Services--joining Time

law of services---Joining time.

As and when an employee is shifted from one station to another station he is given joining time so that he could arrange shifting of his house hold effects, his family and may also arrange suitable accommodation at the next station.  The employee is given journey time and preparation time and in some cases this period could be extended up to one month.  Normally this preparation period could be one week or so and not more than that.

When employee gets his transfer at his own request, then he is not given joining time, but in such cases too, he shall be getting journey time from the old station to the new station.  The employee must know rules and regulations governing joining time in his organization so that at no stage he should violate those rules and should join at the next station within the period prescribed.

There could be instances when the employee reaches at the other station, he is informed that there is no post at all and in such circumstances, the  competent authority has to change the station of posting and the employee shall not suffer and the period so spent shall be converted into duty period.  The employee must be cautious and therefore, he must see that the period which he has spent out of duty must be counted either as joining time or as leave of the kind due and this work must be done immediately because at a later stage such complications are creating trouble in deciding the cases.  Joining time entry must be shown in service record of the official so that there should be no gap or uncovered period in the service record.

When one is transferred at the same station, no joining time is given to him.
